PROJECT: Tanzania Mnazi Bay and Songo Songo Natural Gas Processing Plants and Transportation Pipeline Project
CUSTOMER/END USER: Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC)
DESCRIPTION: Tyhoo applied Concrete Weight Coating (CWC) for project offshore pipeline with mobile CWC plant in Tanzania
PROJECT LOCATION: Mtwara-Dar es Salaam
TOTAL LENGTH : 542 Km
YEAR COMPLETED: 2014
On September 26, 2011, CPTDC, CPP and CPE, three subsidiaries of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) jointly signed the EPC contract with Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) for the construction of Tanzania Mnazi Bay and SongoSongo Natural Gas Processing Plants and Gas Transportation Pipeline Project, a new natural gas pipeline from the natural gas fields in the southeast of Tanzania to Dar es Salaam as well as two gas processing plants, with a total length of 542km.
The offshore pipeline system starts from SongoSongo Island gas processing plant near the west coast of SongoSongo Island, following an offshore route to the Tanzanian shore line at SomangaFunga, to connect with the Somanga Station pipeline, and the deepest water depth is about 46.3m (EGM96).
In the middle of June 2013, Tyhoo/PCI moved a mobile CWC plant to Tanzania and started the onsite application of concrete coating for approximately 27km of offshore pipeline with a pipe size of OD 610mm × WT 22.2mm and around 20km onshore pipeline with the pipe size of OD 914mm × WT 12.7mm passing through the marsh area as well as 5km of 16'' gas processing pipeline. The entire concrete weight coating application project was completed within eight (8) months, including equipment and facilities mobilization, assembling, production as well as delivery.
