ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Marjan Increment Development Mega-Project Package 1, awarded to McDermott International in partnership with China Offshore Oil Engineering Company (COOEC), represents a monumental undertaking in the global energy industry. This landmark project, valued at over $3 billion, marks the single largest Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (EPCI) offshore contract ever awarded by Saudi Aramco, the world's largest oil producing company.
The project's core objective is to enhance Saudi Aramco's production capacity in the Marjan field, a strategic asset located in the eastern flank of the Arabian Gulf. By developing Package 1, specifically the Gas-Oil Separation Plant (GOSP), McDermott and COOEC will significantly increase the field's oil production from 500,000 to 800,000 barrels per day. This expansion underscores the critical role the Marjan field plays in Saudi Arabia's energy security and global oil supply.
The Package 1 GOSP separation platform will serve as the operational center of the entire Marjan Increment Development Mega-Project. The facility will include the construction of six major topside platforms and jackets, 12 bridges, six bridge support platforms and jackets, as well as extensive oil export trunk lines and composite subsea cables spanning over 70 kilometers and 90 kilometers respectively. The fabrication of over 165,000 tons of materials will be undertaken at facilities in Indonesia, Malaysia, and China, showcasing the consortium's global reach and capabilities.
TYHOO SCOPE OF WORK
TYHOO's scope of work for this project involves supplying internal FBE (Fusion Bonded Epoxy) coating for over 10,000 pieces of pre-fabricated piping spools that are destined for installation on five different offshore topsides. These topsides belong to three different contractors including McDermott, COOEC, and QMW. The piping spools, categorized under PP (Production Platform, AUX (Auxiliary), and ACC (Accommodation) for McDermott Batam, TP (Tie-in Platform) for COOEC, and GCP (Gas Compression Platform) for QMW, require specialized internal coating to ensure corrosion resistance and long-term durability in harsh offshore environments.
