TYHOO has successfully completed the internal and external field joint coating (IFJC & EFJC) works for the 32-inch seawater transmission pipeline of the SQM-TEA project located in Nueva Victoria, Iquique, Chile. Within the project's total pipeline length of 44 km, TYHOO executed 25 km of robotic internal field joint coating works.
The project was awarded by SQM Industrial S.A. in November 2024, with Empresa Constructora Fe Grande S.A. serving as the EPC contractor. The works were carried out over a 10-month period in 2025. To address the high salinity and strong corrosivity of the seawater environment, TYHOO implemented the Denso Protal 7200 internal coating system and VISCOWRAP external viscoelastic wrapping system.
The scope of work included pipe-end pre-blasting, robotic internal field joint coating, and external joint wrapping with viscoelastic tape, restoring continuous anticorrosion protection and ensuring the pipeline's durability exceeds its design service life.
As TYHOO's first integrated pipeline coating solution project in Chile, this achievement demonstrates the company's capability to integrate robotic technologies with conventional field operations under demanding environmental conditions. The SQM-TEA project further strengthens TYHOO's technical presence in Latin America's mining and pipeline sectors, while providing valuable experience in international project management and multicultural on-site coordination, and laying a solid foundation for the company's continued expansion in South America and its global development strategy.
